Fountain on the Mountain!

When Lakshmana, the younger brother of Lord Sri Rama fainted and went into a unconscious state, Lord Hanuman was assigned a protective role of bringing the Sanjeevani Mount from the Himalayan Mountains, the mighty aerial Hanuman flew all the way from the Indian, Srilankan Seas. On the way back Hanuman felt thirsty, as he flew over the Western ghats and looked around for a Water resource devoutly praying to Lord Shiva who affectionately orders Lord Subrahmanya, to create a Waterfalls to quench Hanuman’s thirst, and Lord Subrahmanya immediately creates a Water source, a fountain on the Mountain and Sri Hanuman quenched his thirst heartily.

Hanu means Hanuman (Anu in Tamil), Vavi means Water spring. Based on this Puranic event, this place has been named as Anuvavi. As an appreciation and gratitude towards Lord Sri Subrahmanya, and to extend his blessings further to the devout, Hanuman requests him to enshrine atop the mountain, and as Anuvavi Subrahmanyar, he has been blessing the devotees ever since. Lord Sri Hanuman blesses the devotees that come seeking Lord Subrahmanya and himself in a huge 45-feet form at the Anjaneyar Nandavanam with Health, Wealth, Happiness, Courage, and Prosperity.
